Also any updates and or extra tips on setting up the the DS through a mac? I have the same setup as you and I've gotten it to work. Heres how to do it without dropping your firewall entirely. Make sure its ticked open and then in the advanced settings make sure that you dont have "Block all UDP Traffic" set.
The Stealth Mode can stay on. I finally got it working. Note that if you haven't used the built-in AirPort before, it's not switched on, but you cannot see it anywhere in System Preferences window.
Then also ifconfig en1 doesn't give you anything useful. This was such an excellent resource, and it worked perfectly the very first time. Thank you so much! Just a question : what the firts inet does mean? I tried to find an answer on the web, but nothing! Why do not use the second one which is the IP adress I configured for my airport card? Everything worked perfectly fine, except that it came up with the error I've looked everywhere but I can't find any instructions on what it means or how to fix it.
Can anyone help? My DS won't let me set the subnet mask to Confirm the information and try again. Call in the USA and Canada for help. I used to have a wireless hub, and one of my slots has that in it. Could this be causing the problem? What do I need to do to fix it? You made me happy I was about to give up on this thing Wasn't able to connect with anything!!! But now, I CAN!!! I do all the stuff im meant to do, and it starts connecting and showing full connection, but when its about to end it says it cannot connect to the internet.
Why is it doing this? I just recreated your problem by turning the airport off. Turn it on and you're good to go! I got this too. Then I thought "Oh That's what happened to me.
Works great now! I've been trying to get my darn DS hooked up to the net for years, and due to various reasons have never been able to. My most recent annoyance is the college network. I just moved into the dorm for my freshman year and the school uses a password protected internet connection. So the DS won't hook to that. I had a usb connector, but I recently switched from the WinXP of 7 years to a shiny macbook, so that doesn't work. This technique gets you past that pesky password issue.
Great for all college bound Nintendo nerds! I found the ip address with the inet thing in terminal. But the middle two brackets are both filled with 0's, and the ds says the information is wrong. Lost your password? The Wii and DS channel, for example, is custom built in the Python script, but this can be done in any programming language. As for how they work, the games themselves do all the heavy lifting while the server provides a home base for logging in, matchmaking, friends list, tracking game statistics and other online functionality.
Once party matches are made, special network signals are sent out to all participating players and negotiates the connection between them. Once connected, game data is exchanged. Throughout playtime the server will send "heartbeat" signals — as Lelli calls them — to all parties to make sure they are still connected. Other than these brief signals, the server itself doesn't know anything else about the game being played.
Players can download a special program and drag and drop the ROM file into it to generate an Action Replay code or install a special patcher that will modify the ROM file to be compatible with the channel. Players will also need a flashcard to run the ROM. From here, under the Options menu, players must choose to "Erase Nintendo WFC Configuration," which will allow them to make a new friend code on the homebrew server for use with all DS games.
Users only have to do this once per handheld. The "Auto-obtain IP" option can be left on "Yes. For the Wii channel , users will need a homebrew-capable Wii or Wii U console with the Homebrew Channel installed in order to access the server and delete any previous save files for games that will need to access it. At this point, the Wii will run a connection test, which will fail. This is supposed to happen. Users must then install an offline network enabler homebrew app to the storage device the Wii is using and run it through the Homebrew Channel, as well as install a software called BrainSlug that will ensure games can run.
Once these two items are installed, games can be played online through the homebrew server. Brenton noted that group behind the homebrew server ultimately wants to make it as easy as possible to connect and play the affected Wii and DS games.
Players will need to hack their console in some way, as noted above. None of the mentioned methods for the DS will affect the console from functioning, but Lelli cautioned players installing the Homebrew Channel on the Wii to make sure they follow the steps exactly so they don't brick the console. When you find your network, click on it.
If the connection test was successful, your Nintendo DS is now connected online and you can enjoy the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection features of the game! Use the error code lookup from Nintendo to see what it means.
